About Beaver Lodge

Welcome to the Beaver Lodge. We are located on the west slope of the Sawtooth Mountain range, adjacent to the Middle Fork of the Boise River and the Sawtooth Wilderness Area. We moved from northwest Minnesota to Boise in 2014 for John's job and began exploring Idaho backroads. We soon fell in love with the Atlanta area. Our dreams of living here full time were finalized July 5th, 2019. We have always loved the outdoors, whether it is hiking, fishing, or hunting. We love to explore in our Jeep and backpacking. Enjoy our little slice of paradise!

About the Lodge

The Beaver lodge has been located near the center of town for 28 years. We have a full bar, restaurant and rental five rental cabins. Our front porch is the local gathering place where all manner of discussions take place. We are open year-round, but hours vary by season. There are two Forest Service campgrounds and a guard station nearby. Our remote location keeps things peaceful and not overcrowded.

Atlanta was first occupied by settlers in the early 1860's as a gold mining camp. Logging has also been active here in the past. There are lots of ruins and abandoned encampments to explore. Summer activities include hiking, mountain biking and backpacking. For the power sport enthusiast there are many miles of trails suitable for jeeps, ATV's and motorcycles. We have fuel available in limited quantities. Back country pilots tell us the local air strip 55H is in great shape and enjoy flying in for a meal and exploring. This area of Idaho is also active geothermally so there are several hot springs available for a relaxing soak at the end of your day. Through hikers can also mail supply packages to us.

In the fall our focus turns to hunting. We are in the eastern portion of Unit 39. Elk, mountain goat, mule deer, black bear, mountain lion, bob cat, wolf, coyote and fox are successfully hunted here. The Middle Fork Boise River and surrounding alpine lakes have good fishing opportunities as well.

Our elevation is about 5,400 ft with surrounding peaks exceeding 9,000 ft, so there is plenty of snow for winter activities. The most popular being snow shoeing, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
